Ronald Reagan High School played host to an exciting two-day wrestling tournament this past weekend, with high school wrestlers from across the region competing in both junior varsity (JV) and varsity divisions. The tournament, which took place on Friday and Saturday, brought together some of the area’s top talent from schools including Reagan, Churchill, Judson, Long Creek, Johnson, and Veterans Memorial.
The action began on Friday with the JV wrestlers taking to the mats, showcasing impressive skill and determination. In front of a packed gymnasium, the younger athletes battled it out in various weight classes, with Reagan’s team showing a dominant presence. Reagan’s JV squad walked away with several individual wins and had some standout performances, securing victories across multiple weight categories.
Saturday saw the varsity athletes take center stage, with the intensity ramping up. The stakes were higher, and the competition was fierce, as top-ranked wrestlers from each school went head-to-head in a series of highly competitive matches. Reagan, Johnson, and Churchill emerged as the standout teams, with each school taking home key victories in multiple weight classes.
The tournament was an excellent opportunity for athletes to fine-tune their skills, gain valuable experience, and build team camaraderie ahead of the district and regional championships later this season.
With the season now in full swing, the participating teams will look ahead to the upcoming district meets, where more intense action is expected. The Reagan wrestling program’s commitment to excellence remains strong, and their impressive hosting of this weekend’s tournament only further solidifies their standing in the San Antonio area.
