Reagan High School opened its doors to future Rattlers this week, hosting an exciting and inspiring campus tour for 8th graders from Lopez and Bush Middle Schools. The event aimed to familiarize the students with the campus, programs, and opportunities available to them as incoming Rattlers.
The day began with guided tours of the school, allowing students to explore key facilities, including academic buildings, athletic fields, and arts spaces. The future freshmen were introduced to the vibrant culture of Reagan High School, sparking excitement about their transition to high school.
After the tours, students gathered in the school’s auditorium for a special program that showcased the diverse talents and traditions of Reagan High School. Performances included the high-energy drumline from the school’s band, a flawless drill routine from JROTC, and breathtaking musical selections from the choir and orchestra. The dance and cheer teams brought their dynamic energy, receiving cheers from the audience and giving a glimpse of the school spirit Reagan is known for.
The event featured speeches from several key figures who inspired the students with words of encouragement and advice. Coach Ham, the school’s head athletic director, emphasized the importance of being a Student Athlete, reminding students that “being a student comes first.” To further drive this message home, Coach Ham introduced senior athlete Cole Pryor, who shared his own experiences balancing academics and athletics.“It was good talking to them, because I was in their position at one point, so trying to get them some more insight about what is coming up in their next few years is something that’s really important and something they should all understand.” Said Cole, when asked how he felt about talking to the 8th graders. Cole’s heartfelt speech encouraged the young audience to set priorities and work hard to achieve their goals.
Mr. Kaiser, the school’s theatre director, energized the students with his enthusiasm for the arts, while Dr. R, Reagan High School’s principal, welcomed the future Rattlers and assured them of the strong support system they would find on campus.
The day left a lasting impression on the middle schoolers, many of whom expressed excitement about joining the Rattler family next year. Reagan High School’s commitment to fostering both academic success and extracurricular excellence was evident, ensuring a bright future for its incoming class.
As the event concluded, the middle school students left inspired, ready to take their first steps toward becoming part of the Reagan legacy.
