The Band Department is hosting a special concert to showcase the talents of Reagan’s percussionists and highlight their diverse skills beyond the marching band.
Festivities begin at 6 p.m. with a ukulele jam session led by Band Director Paula Boothman. The play-along is open to anyone who wants to join in and make music together.
The main event kicks off at 7 p.m., featuring the concert band, symphonic band, and wind ensemble percussion sections. The groups will perform a vibrant set of steel pan music, perfectly timed for Fiesta season.
Adding even more energy to the evening, special guest CJ Menge will join the students on stage. A nationally recognized steel pan educator, Menge brings decades of experience developing steel band programs across Central Texas. He’ll not only perform but also engage with the audience throughout the night.
Junior Carter Carpio shared his enthusiasm and sense of pride leading up to the performance.
“(I’m excited to) be able to play together with all my friends and, you know, have a good time putting on a party for all the people,” Carpio said.
For senior Mee Mai Whitethorn, this performance holds special meaning.
“I’m so excited to be playing with my friends for the last time and showing everyone what we’ve worked so hard on these past months,” Whitethorn said.
This concert is a major highlight of the year for band students and families alike. Join the Reagan Band on Thursday night in the Rattler Den for an evening of food, fun, and music from our very own Reagan Band.
