Reagan Stage starts the year off with an astonishing performance of the play “Amadeus.” The play was emotional, with amazing acting, eye-catching outfits, and many immersive moments.
Reagan Stage learns from every year what to change or add to their performances, but this year was probably their biggest one yet with the addition of the Reagan Choir and Orchestra. They did an excellent job with how they integrated them into theatre arts, with every song and singing scene really setting the stage for the audience, especially for Mozart’s death scene. When Mozart (Joshua Fanke) took his final breath and his wife (Nadia Tolan) was shaking him and trying to wake him up, the choir and orchestra began to play Requiem, making the whole audience fill with shock and sorrow.
The play also did a great job with this year’s cast, with Emery Meighan being the most magnetic toward the audience. One of the audience’s favorite parts was in the first ten minutes, where he narrates about his life as he looks at the audience members, flicks his hands and the theatre lights up. The audience was very impressed with this and his whole character role throughout the entire performance, he really conveyed the hatred Salieri had for Mozart with his speeches and strong loud voice.
Throughout the play you can see the thought that went into every little detail, especially for the actor and actress’s clothes. The dresses and suits set the mood for the time periods and really wowed the audience, even getting many compliments and pictures taken after the play.
Overall, the play was incredibly entertaining and enjoyable. The audience’s feedback at the end was overwhelmingly great, with lots of positive feedback after the performance. Everybody even had the opportunity to have a meet and greet with the actors and even could buy flowers for them as a little gift. The actors were amazing, the costumes were remarkable, and the story overall was fantastic.
