The Ronald Reagan Marching Band was awarded third place at the Area D Marching Contest in Austin on Saturday, earning a score of 19.
The UIL Area D Marching is a yearly qualifying competition to decide which five marching bands go to the State competition in November. There is usually a preliminary round and a finals round to determine who gets to state, but because there was a strong storm blowing through, finals had to be cancelled.
The UIL State Marching Contest takes place Monday, November 3 at the Alamodome from 8:30 a.m. through 9:30 p.m. Seeing as our band made it to state, they are performing at 12:15 p.m. If the band does well again on Monday, then the band moves on to the finals round on Tuesday.
“Though we didn’t perform for finals due to the storm, I’m still hyped we made it to state,” Aiden Rodriguez, trumpet player, said.
