The JROTC held its annual Turkey Shoot this week. Participants competed in 17 categories for a chance to win a free turkey in time for Thanksgiving.
“It’s competitive because everyone wants to win a free turkey for Thanksgiving,” Master Sgt. John Tijerina said.
The money raised from the event will go towards funding the air rifle team, providing new blinders and support bands for their guns.
“When people first shoot, it’s almost like they’ve unlocked a new talent,” JROTC cadet Paul Estrada said. “Some people are naturally good at aiming, while others surprise themselves with how well they shoot.”
