Britton Moore, a 21-year-old alumnus of Ronald Reagan High School, got all four judges to turn their chairs on Monday’s episode with his performance of “Yellow” by Coldplay.
Moore told the judges that he had signed up for tryouts for the show back in high school but declined that year because his baseball team had made the Texas 6A Championship playoffs, and he did not want to miss out on playing with his team.
Moore’s high upper range rivals the falsetto of Coach Adam Levine, and he pulled off the difficult song with ease.
“I turned around way before anyone else,” Levine said. ”When I heard you go into your falsetto, I was like, I need to coach this guy. I just felt like an instant connection with you and I pushed really early because I thought this kid’s going to be special.”
