North East ISD has opened enrollment to all students in the San Antonio area for the upcoming school year.
Applications opened Monday, April 20, and families are encouraged to begin the process as soon as possible. Early applications allow the district to review students’ prior attendance, academic records and discipline history.
During a board meeting on Monday, April 14, the Board of Trustees voted to expand boundaries after the district lost more than 2,000 students. The decline brings enrollment to 55,000 students, leaving some campuses under capacity.
According to a report from KSAT, the decrease in enrollment has also created a financial deficit, but district officials say expanding boundaries will help fill under-enrolled campuses and increase funding.
Families have plenty of options when it comes to choosing a campus, with up to 70 different schools and magnet programs.
Any questions district families have can contact NEISD’s communication office for more information.
