On Thursday, Reagan’s very own Special Olympics athletes will compete against Reagan faculty in a fun, action-packed game. Last year, the Special Olympics athletes narrowly defeated the Reagan faculty 39–38. This year’s matchup is expected to bring high energy that will keep audience members on the edge of their seats.
As in years past, the Reagan Band will be in attendance to cheer on our fellow Rattlers and add an extra pep to the ambience of the game.
Aiden Rodriguez, a four-year band member who attended last year’s Hoops Classic, shared his excitement.
“It’s definitely a very fun experience to be in the stands and getting hyped with my friends,” Rodriguez said.
The event will begin promptly at 6:15 p.m. and conclude at 8:15 p.m. The game is free and open to all spectators. The purpose of the annual Hoops Classic is to unite the Reagan community while promoting positivity and inclusion on campus.
In addition to Reagan Band, several other Reagan programs will be in attendance to cheer on faculty and students during the game. Groups such as Cheer, JROTC, PALS, Athletics, and Varsity Basketball will all be in attendance.
Coach Hirst, Reagan’s basketball coach, highlighted the impact the Hoops Classic has on the school community and encouraged students to attend.
“The single best thing we do at Reagan all year long… every year!” Hirst said. “There is not one thing you will enjoy more—or that will make you more proud to be a Reagan Rattler. I hope everyone will make plans to attend!”
