As graduation season approaches, seniors have a series of important dates and traditions to look forward to. The journey begins on April 8, when students can pick up their Josten’s cap and gown orders during all three lunches in the Fine Arts Foyer. All caps and gowns must be ordered through Josten’s to ensure every graduate is dressed in the same shade of green. For those who haven’t ordered yet, there’s still time to do so online, with the option to have items mailed directly.
Honoring academic achievements comes next. On April 13, select students who received digital invitations will be recognized at the Senior Awards ceremony. Honorees should check in at the BAC by 6:00 p.m. and are asked to dress nicely for the occasion. The following day, April 14, is reserved for the Summa Ceremony—another special event for invited students, held in the auditorium foyer with check-in at 5:15 p.m. Business casual attire is encouraged.
April 17 is the final day for seniors to submit any scholarships they wish to have announced at graduation. Scholarships submitted by this date will be featured in the ceremony program and acknowledged during the event. Students can fill out the required form online.
April 23 brings some fun and camaraderie with Senior Field Day. Students can create their own teams or be placed on one, but must register by April 14. More details are available in the Senior Google Classroom.
The excitement continues into May. The Powder Puff Football game is set for May 14, with more details to come. On May 21, seniors will participate in elementary school walks, take a panoramic picture at 9:00 a.m. in the band parking lot (mandatory attendance from 8:50 a.m.), attend a graduation meeting, and enjoy one final walk together. Caps and gowns should be brought for this day.
Graduation practice is scheduled for May 22 at the Blossom Athletic Center Football Field. Practice begins at 8:30 a.m., so students should arrive by 8:15 a.m. Water is recommended due to the warm weather, but caps and gowns should be left at home. Attendance at practice is mandatory to participate in the ceremony.
Finally, the moment everyone has been working toward: Graduation Day on May 23. The ceremony will begin promptly at 2:30 p.m. at the Alamodome, with graduates expected to arrive by 1:30 p.m. Don’t forget your cap and gown for this unforgettable milestone!
