The Reagan High School winter guard competed at the Texas Color Guard Circuit Area Contest at Georgetown High School on Saturday, March 28. Both the junior varsity and varsity teams qualified for state competition.
The JV team placed first in the Scholastic JV A category, earning the title of SJVA Area West champion. The varsity team placed second in the Scholastic Open category.
“I am very excited to go to state, this winter guard season has been very successful for us so far,” JV member Charlotte Doty said. “As a team, we cannot wait to show everything we have been practicing since January.
The varsity team will next compete at the Winter Guard International World Championships in Dayton, Ohio, from April 9-11.
“I can’t wait to see how far we can advance because two years ago we made it to semi-finals but this year we’ve been scoring better so we might make it to finals,” varsity colorguard member Taylor Dolle said.
Next there will be an End of Season Celebration held in the gym on Wednesday, April 15, from 7 to 8 p.m. A showoff performance for those who cannot make it to the other events.
The season will conclude at the TCGC State Championships at Texas State University on Sunday, April 19. Details about the TCGC State Championships can be found at: https://texascolorguardcircuit.org/events/april-19-strahan-arena-sjva-ia-open-world-state-championships
